Halloween!

After being a little afraid that Halloween would be canceled because Colton wasn't feeling well, we actually made it through trick or treating. We went to a party at our neighbors' house and had a great time. Colton was all about the trick or treating this year. He went to every house and remembered each time to say "Howdy Partner! Trick or Wheat!" Everyone thought he was so cute dressed in his little cowboy outfit. Allie also had a great time, but was too scared to go into a spooky house that was all decked out with scary things. At one point, the kids were standing across the street from the spooky house waiting for those who were brave enough to go in. Suddenly a scary guy in a mask came running out with a chainsaw!! I have never seen kids scatter so fast. That was it for some of the kids in our group and they had to go home. Colton just looked at me and said "That was spooky, Mama" Then he was ready to go on to more houses. All in all we had a great time and ended the night with Mom's special hot chocolate and a Tinkerbell movie. What a great holiday!

Scarecrow Day at School

Today was scarecrow day at school and I just couldn't help sharing a few pictures of Allie and I all dressed up! I know I am a bit biased, but I think my baby girl makes one gorgeous scarecrow! Enjoy!

Okay...So I know I posted a video of Colton reading before, but I just couldn't resist this one. He was just too cute!

I couldn't help but post these...The kids were playing and this was what I found them doing...Just too cute. I love it when they are sweet to each other!

Allie's new outfit!

SO, I came up with the bright idea that I wanted to make Allie an outfit. We spent the day Saturday shopping. I went to Borders Books to find a book that would teach me to sew :o) I got one, but as you can imagine, it wasn't quite that easy. I realized that it has been quite a while since I had to really read a text book and let's just say my attention span ain't what it used to be. Then it was off to the fabric store with Allie to pick out just the right colors. Rob gave me a real hard time because I ended up buying 9 yards of fabric when the pattern only called for 4 total yards. He asked me how many people was I making clothes for....Anyway, I sat down surrounded by my purchases and that is when it hit me. Those people on Project Runway make this look a lot easier then it really is. If you have ever read the directions on a pattern without having some sort of experience with sewing, you know what I felt like. The first three lines mentioned basting, with nap, pile and surface shading...WHAT????? So, I folded everything and resigned myself to taking it all back the next day. Feeling totally overwhelmed, I went to the internet and searched every video possible on youtube that had anything to do with learning how to sew. After a while, I felt slightly better and decided that I was going to make this work. I knew that if I attempted sleeves I was going to end up with something completely crazy AND I had flashbacks to a story my mom told me about my granny making shorts for my dad and that they ended up looking like a giant skirt SO I quickly decided that the only way to save myself from certain humiliation was to buy a shirt and pants already made and add some things to it. I also recruited my mom as my helper(mostly just to keep me from going over the edge!) What I ended up with is pretty close to what I was hoping for....I did have to abandon that pattern idea and just wing it like they do on Project Runway(I LOVE that show if you can't tell)...Just don't look too close at the stitching! Allie just loves it and that is all that matters! Who knows! I might even try another project!
