We started off getting to our site and finding out that Fort Wilderness does not take specific requests too literally....but after a little convincing, we were able to help Nana see that the site was centrally located and had easy access to everything.
It was around this first day that the term Code Brown was introduced...Thanks to Louis and his always creative mind. Colton was on antibiotics through the trip and needless to say I spent much time changing diapers. We started alerting each other to this as Code Brown! We had lots of laughs about it and Colton even got to the point that he would run when he heard one of us say I believe we have a possible code brown!!
We spent our first day at Magic Kingdom. We quickly found that the lines were not near as long as we expected. We raced to the Haunted Mansion first because it was closed for remodeling the last time we were there. We found out quickly that when Colton gets scared, he doesn't scream or cry, he just shakes. Colton was really scared so after that, Allie went with the men to the bigger rides and Nana and I decided to take Colton to A Small World...to help him forget about the scary ghosts. He wasn't too sure about all those singing children. We spent the next few rides with him asking "Is it scary??" The rest of the day went smoothly and Rob and I even brought the kids back for the late night.
We were lucky enough to spend the 4th of July at the campground, and Karen made sure we had plenty of decorations to participate in the golf cart parade. Allie and Colton helped decorate the cart and we all put on our shirts that Karen monogramed for us. We were definitely stylin as we took our place in line. Things were going well...throwing candy and beads, Allie twirling her banner, Colton waving from the front seat....when it happened. The golf cart got overheated and stopped running. We had to push it through the end of the parade. We tried to lean in casually and push so that people couldn't tell. It was quite funny and something I don't think we will forget!
We spent the next few days touring parks and having a blast. We went to Mickey's backyard bar-b-que and found out quickly that Colton was terrified of characters and that Allie refused to go up to "strangers in costumes" so we enjoyed the food instead!
This time we got to go to Universal which is something new that we have never been before. Louis and Karen bought us all these special passes that let you skip to the front of every ride. That made it easy to ride everything! Colton was really frightened by the Jaws ride and kept saying "Shark Crash Boat" over and over for the rest of the day. Rob and Allie were the brave ones who rode the big coasters. We all loved Islands of Adventures where we got SOAKED!!! Then Nana and Pop paid for 5 minutes in a giant dryer. We all packed in together and dried off. It really didn't help much, but at least we weren't dripping.
We did have a couple of downers happen. Allie got sick one day and had to stay home, but Nana made it fun for her. Then the day Rob left, Colton slipped and fell in the shower while I was putting his shorts on. He hit the back of his head. I thought he was okay until he turned really white and became very lethargic. Then he vomited on me so I called 911. The ambulance came and took Colton and I to the hospital. Louis and Karen came back just in time to drive Allie. So they had to spend half a day waiting in the ER while Colton had a Cat scan. Everything turned out fine and by the 2nd day, he was back to his old self! He was even able to finish out the trip by going with Allie and me to Magic Kingdom on the last day to watch the lighted parade. I felt so happy with my kids during such a magical event!
We had the time of our lives! Thanks Nana and Pop for a magical time!
